has been taken by HSE in a Russian university ranking of the salaries earned by graduates in Finance & Economics. This ranking was prepared by the Superjob.ru research centre, based on a comparison of the average wages earned by Russians who graduated university in 2011 – 2016.
A View from the Outside: Hipster and the City
In their study Hipsters in Russian Capital and Provinces: Legitimation of Social Phenomenon, Leda Skobeleva and Maria Plotnikova use responses from young people interviewed in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod to construct the profile of a hipster. According to respondents in both cities, being a hipster is a fashion rather than a subculture or socio-political movement. Young people in Moscow and Nizhny Novgorod were also unanimous in describing typical hipster appearances and behaviour, such as preference for eco-fashion and organic food, as well as a peculiar mixture of high-end brands and sloppy ‘bomzh-style’ clothes.
Attracted by the Variety of HSE’s Programmes and Students
Alexander Bespalov, a first-year student in the HSE and University of London Parallel Degree Programme in International Relations, was born in Israel to parents who had emigrated from Russia. Students Examine Cybersecurity Contextualization in Russia and the United States
Students from HSE ISSEK, Stanford University, and Rice University have researched how Russia and the US cooperate in cybersecurity and explored the nuances present in the approaches that each country takes in this area, including different understandings of cybersecurity-related terms. The research was conducted in 2016-2017 as part of the Stanford US-Russia Forum (SURF), a programme dedicated to developing US-Russia cooperation. Over a period of 8 months, 30 American and Russian students and young professionals worked on their projects.
HSE Develops Discussion Programme for World Festival of Youth and Students
An agreement relating to the programme was signed by HSE and Roscongress Foundation at the St Petersburg International Economic Forum.
International Perspective
On June 4, 2017, HSE is holding ‘The Whole World at HSE’ festival, dedicated to the cultures of different peoples. It’s a great opportunity for many international students to share information about their country’s culture and explain how Russian culture might be perceived by people with a different mentality. HSE Has Chosen Best Student Projects
Winners of Iron Egg, the biggest student award, have received their prizes. This year, 33 student associations competed in 11 nominations in the contest finals.
HSE Opens SAP Innovation Centers for Students
SAP Next-Gen Lab innovation centers, networked with the center at Münster University (Germany) – HSE’s partner university since 2005, have opened at HSE School of Business Informatics (Moscow) and the Faculty of Informatics, Mathematics, and Computer Science (HSE Nizhny Novgorod).
Bloomberg Hub Opens at HSE School of Finance
From June 2017 a Bloomberg hub offering unlimited data access will be available at the HSE building at 26 Shabolovka. The Bloomberg database comprises extensive, constantly updated data on global and national capital markets, transactions involving financial assets, derivatives, as well as market liquidity options, trading applications and news flow.
