Eight works by students of the HSE Art and Design School are among the winners in the ‘Students’ category of the ADCR Awards, a Russian professional competition in the field of creativity, design and advertising. HSE students won all gold, silver and bronze awards. Many student works were also included in the shortlist of the competition, while Evgeny Kashirin, lecturer at the HSE Art and Design School, was named tutor of the year.

The Bachelor’s in Foreign Languages and Intercultural Communication combines traditional approaches to foreign language teaching with innovative educational practices. The programme has attracted a lot of international students thanks to the opportunity to enrol in the English track and study all its courses in English. Farangiz Djuraeva from Uzbekistan and Adila Ulfia Maula Tontowi from Indonesia shared their impressions with the HSE News Service.

The Bachelor's programme 'Philology' welcomes both Russian and international students. We talked to Mikhail Beshimov, who entered HSE University-St Petersburg via the HSE International Olympiad and came to study from Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. The new academic year is gaining momentum at the HSE Preparatory Year, with students from over 40 countries currently enrolled. The HSE News Service talked to the new students about their first impressions and the challenges of studying at HSE University and living in Moscow, while teachers of the Prep Year extracurricular clubs shared their ideas and plans for future activities.

Maria Stepanova’s work at the HSE University Art and Design School allows her to be part of a creative community and help students find their way in the industrial and product design industry. In her interview with HSE University’s Age-Mates, Maria talks about the cult Japanese studio Nendo, original carpets in the shape of a twelve-legged leopard, and her dream of opening student workshops at the Art and Design School.

HSE University is known for its active extracurricular life. There are many student organisations at the university, so everyone can find something for themselves. Anna Lulikyan, fourth-year bachelor student in Sociology, told the HSE News Service about the Best Buddies HSE volunteer club.

On October 26–28, the HSE University eLearning Office held the fifth U4Uonline intensive course for networking partner universities. HSE University has been creating large-scale open online courses since 2014. The university is also a co-founder of the Open Education national platform, includes online courses in its curricula, guides students through the digital learning process, and carries out quality monitoring and evaluation procedures.
