KAVKAZ.RF summed up the initial results of the Rediscovering Russia student expeditions to the North Caucasus that were organised by HSE University and the Russia is the Land of Opportunities non-profit organisation. Drawing on the results of three expeditions, students prepared video depictions of six North Caucasus republics, developed a branding concept for Dagestani carpets, and drew up a new tour route through North Ossetia-Alania.

A team of Russian scientists including HSE MIEM researchers have used superconcentrated salt solutions to produce effective water-based electrolytes that demonstrate high conductivity and electrochemical stability and require lower amounts of non-toxic salts, making the batteries safer and less expensive than classical non-aqueous ones. The study is published in The Journal of Physical Chemistry C.

Nandan Unnikrishnan, Distinguished Fellow and Supervisor of theEurasia Programme at the Observer Research Foundation (ORF), will talk at HSE University about the challenges and prospects of Russia-Indiarelations on December 8. Yohei Shiiba from Japan, Eunsong Gu from the Republic of Korea, together with Luca Volponi and Nicola Bressan from Italy shared their impressions of living in Moscow and studying on the English-taught Master of International Business (MIB) programme, which is open to students from all over the world.

HSE University is hosting the FIT-M 2022 International Scientific Forum. As part of this event, the HSE Cultural Centre held a series of lectures on November 29­–30. On December 7–9, guests of the forum will have three days of practical work with scientists, IT industry leaders, businesspeople, and industry experts.

The jury of the New Design Festival ‘Sreda’ 2022 have announced their winners. Projects by students, graduates and curators of the HSE Art and Design School have won prizes and received special awards, while the School was selected as the educational institution of the year for the second year in a row. Evgeny Kashirin, lecturer at the HSE Art and Design School, was named tutor of the year.

Researchers at the HSE Graduate School of Business have created a model for calculating the indicator of subjective well-being, based on the analysis of 7.2 million posts on the Odnoklassniki social network. They found that the lowest level of observed subjective well-being can be registered in the morning, and the highest can be found in the late evening. The results of the study were published in the Mathematics journal.
