The Perm campus of HSE University has hosted the KIVO Nursery pre-accelerator for educational projects. The projects will be presented at the KIVO 2022 Competition of Innovations in Education. Dozens of innovators from the Perm region took part, pitching their projects and receiving feedback from experts. The event also featured the presentation of the preliminary results of the HSE University Institute of Education expedition ‘The Ecosystem of Educational Innovations in the Perm Region’.

This year, the HSE Film Institute is welcoming its first applicants. How does the Institute teach screenwriters, directors, actors, and producers? How do the Institute’s degree programmes differ from those of other specialised universities? What’s a better way for students to enter the industry—arthouse or mainstream films? Scholars from HSE University and the RAS Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry have demonstrated the efficiency of T-cell immune response against the Omicron variant of SARS-CoV-2. In approximately 90% of vaccinated Europeans, T-cell immunity was as effective against Omicron as with other variants. The results of the study were published in PeerJ.

AFK Sistema's scholarship competition for software and hardware projects of the Tikhonov Moscow Institute of Electronics and Mathematics (MIEM), HSE University, has come to a close. The aim of the competition was to find talented teams of designers in the field of microelectronics among MIEM students. The winners of the competition were awarded personal scholarships.

In April, the results of the Research Initiative student project competition were announced at HSE University. Twenty-two team applications were submitted by students of 20 different fields of study at HSE University’s campuses in Moscow, Perm, and Nizhny Novgorod. Based on the results of expert assessment, the competition committee approved 17 interdisciplinary projects to be implemented by December 2022.

Researchers discussed the future development of deepfakes and how to protect yourself from new types of fraud during the round-table discussion ‘Fake News: An Interdisciplinary Approach’ as part of the XXIII Yasin (April) International Academic Conference on Economic and Social Development.
