HSE Moves Up 10 Points in THE Emerging Economies Rankings
HSE University has taken 22nd place in THE Emerging Economies Rankings, improving its position from last year. This ranking includes a total of 35 Russian universities, with 18 of them participating in the 5-100 Project.

New Library Opens at HSE Building in Staraya Basmannaya
It will be located in Building B and is an addition to the existing library in Building A. The new library will be a space not only for those willing to go somewhere private with a book or a tablet, but also for teams who need to get together to discuss joint research projects. The library opens on January 16 at noon. The first 300 visitors will get to participate in a prize draw, which will introduce the readers to the library’s collection.
HSE to Recognize International Certificates from Foreign Applicants
Prospective international undergraduate students who submit certificates in English language and math will have them considered in their applications to study at HSE. New Master's Programme Will Help Develop Understanding of Modern Russia through Scientific Methods

Master's Programme in Applied Economics to Be Taught in English
Beginning September 2019, the Faculty of Economic Sciences plans to open an English taught track for the Master’s programme in Applied Economics. The programme will offer enough English-language courses so that a non-Russian speaking student could meet all of the requirements for graduation. Also, for such students, the programme will offer a special research seminar dedicated to the Russian economy and Economics of Development.
How Students Spent the Longest Night of the Year
On December 21, HSE students organized an Art & Science space called ‘NOCH’ (‘NIGHT’) on the site of the SAMSKARA exhibition at the ArtPlay Design Center in Moscow. Over the course of the seven-hour event, participants discussed the search for extraterrestrial civilizations, the significance of gender differences in post-industrial society, the use of modern technologies to meld art and science, and other exciting topics.
