Second Joint Olympiad in Statistical Learning Theory
Faculty of Computer Science of HSE and Skoltech are pleased to announce the launch of the second joint Olympiad in Statistical Learning Theory (SLT). The competition will be open to students specializing in the fields related to Applied Mathematics and Informatics. Following a pre-selection phase (application details below), the Olympiad final will be held at Skoltech on April 6-7, 2019.

HSE to Develop Agricultural Research
The Institute for Agrarian Studies was founded in October 2018 as a research department at HSE. It carries out research and expert analysis, as well as provides consulting services, in regards to agrarian economics and policy, and the development of agricultural markets and rural areas. It also aims to train highly qualified agriculture analysts. Sergey Pekarski Elected New Dean of Faculty of Economic Sciences
The HSE Academic Council announced that Sergey Pekarski, Head of the Department of Theoretical Economics, will take over as Dean of Faculty from Oleg Zamulin, who will join Sberbank’s Centre of Macroeconomic Research as Director. Professor Zamulin will retain his position of professor at the faculty and continue teaching.
Studying Zaryadye Park
The new Zaryadye Park in Moscow has inspired a series of studies and seminars involving urbanists, cultural scientists, designers, anthropologists and geographers. Researchers Michał Murawski, Margarita Chubukova, and Daria Volkova reviewed some of the ideas about the new park in HSE's Urban Studies and Practices Journal. Summer University to Introduce New Features
Every year, HSE Summer University creates new opportunities for its participants - both students and researchers. The programme is becoming more and more versatile and the range of fields of study is constantly growing. In 2018, about 200 international students from all over the world took part in the Summer University. This year, participants are invited to choose from a larger pool of courses and even travel to Siberia.
