More and more international students are coming to HSE University as part of their study abroad experience. In the 2018-2019 academic year HSE University hosted 445 exchange students, compared to 342 last year. The largest numbers of international students come from Germany, France, Italy, the Netherlands, and the UK. Is life easy for international students at HSE University? ‘Business Informatics Gives You Great Freedom in Your Career Choices’
Maria Fay earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Business Informatics from HSE University (2013). Today, she works at SAP and is in charge of innovation projects in Central and Eastern Europe. She recently earned her PhD from the University of Liechtenstein. Maria has talked with the HSE News Service about combining education, work, and research.

On July 4, HSE University graduates celebrated their graduation with Little Big, a vibrant punk rave band, - this was the University’s gift to the students. The concert drew students, graduates from previous years, and HSE University staff: over 5,000 people attended the event.
HSE Researchers Receive Grants in Russian Science Foundation Competitions
The Russian Science Foundation announced the results of its 2019 competitions for support from the Presidential Research Project Programme. One competition was for grants in support of research initiatives by early career researchers, and another was in support of research conducted by research groups headed by early career scholars.
DNA Secondary Structures Lead to Gene Mutations that Increase the Risk of Cancer
Researchers have used machine learning to discover that the two most widespread DNA structures — stem-loops and quadruplexes — cause genome mutations that lead to cancer. The results of the study were published in BMC Cancer.
A New Art Gallery, New Programmes and an Exhibition at the Museum of Moscow
The HSE ART AND DESIGN Festival, which was held at the Museum of Moscow, served as the final exam for students of HSE’s School of Art and Design. On the final day of the festival, undergraduate and graduate students of the ‘Fashion’ programme presented more than a hundred of pieces of their own design in a fashion show. HSE University and UN-Habitat Sign Collaboration Agreement
HSE University and the United Nations Human Settlements Programme signed an agreement to conduct joint research on urban development. HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov and UN Under-Secretary-General Maimunah Mohd Sharif, who heads the UN-Habitat programme, signed the letter of intent at the recent Moscow Urban Forum, which was held on July 4-7 at Moscow’s Zaryadye Park.
Benefits of Studying in a Double-Degree Programme
Nowadays, students have the opportunity to enrol in a double-degree programme and earn two Master’s degrees from different institutions in different countries over a shorter period of time. While receiving two diplomas at once is definitely one advantage of a double-degree programme, HSE University has compiled some of the others.

Andrea Marchesini, from Cortona, Italy, is currently pursuing a double degree programme in Economics and Finance offered by LUISS University in Rome and International College of Economics and Finance of HSE University.
