Open Doors Scholarship Competition for International Applicants: Register Now!
More than 40,000 participants from 183 countries have already registered for the Open Doors Scholarship Competition. The competition, which is held by the Association of Global Universities, gives international applicants the opportunity to enroll tuition-free in a Master’s programme of a participating Russian university of their choice without having to take entrance exams. The deadline to submit your portfolio for consideration is December 18.
Belgian Student Combines Urban Planning and Slavic Studies at HSE University
Charlotte Rottiers is a master’s exchange student from Ghent University (Belgium). This semester she is taking courses at HSE University on urban planning in the ‘Prototyping Future Cities’ Master’s Programme as well as courses on Russian language and culture in the Faculty of Humanities. HSE Students Take Third Place at Junction International Hackathon
This year 1500 participants from 100 countries took part in the Junction International Hackathon. A team of second-year students of the HSE Faculty of Computer Science (Timofey Smirnov, Igor Zverev, Ainur Nuriev and Aldar Danilov) led by Maxim Dyakov (first-year student of the programme in E-Business) presented a smart lighting project.
Isolated, Vulnerable, and Apathetic: HIV and the Transgender Community in Russia
Although HIV infection rates are high among the transgender community in Russia, many transgender people know very little about the virus, as well as their own health status. In Russia’s first study to examine transgender people as an at-risk social group for HIV transmission, demographers attribute these high infection rates to the community’s social stigmatization and isolation, as well as a lack of access to medical services. The study’s findings have been published in the HSE journal, Demographic Review.
