English Graduate Chooses to Pursue Doctoral Studies in Political Science at HSE
Ever since he was a teenager, Judas Everett has been interested in politics. A new postgraduate student in HSE’s Doctoral School of Political Science, Judas says he owes a lot of his continued interest to the teachers he’s had over the years, the right encouragement and the right reading suggestions.
Experiencing Culture Shock
Conscious decision-making and internalized intentions, as opposed to extrinsic influencing factors, are the key to a student’s successful adaption to life in a foreign country. This was confirmed by research carried out by a group of scientists which included Ken Sheldon, Academic Supervisor and Head of the International Laboratory of Positive Psychology of Personality and Motivation at the Higher School of Economics.
Admissions Made Easy for International Students: 2018/2019 Academic Year
On November 15, international student admissions for undergraduate and Master’s programmes opened. This year, prospective students can apply to two programmes simultaneously. They’ll be able to track the application process online in their personal profile on the HSE website where they will receive notifications on the stages of their application’s review and decisions by the admissions committee. The documents for visa invitation can also be submitted there.

Studying Russian Language and Culture with HSE
For the second year now HSE Saint-Petersburg has been gladly welcoming students from UCL School of Slavonic and Eastern European Studies, coming to improve their language skills and immerse themselves into the mysterious Russian culture. Indonesian Student Chooses HSE to Pursue Entrepreneurial Dream
For Sebastian Billy Anggara, a 20-year-old student from Kediri, Indonesia, coming to HSE to study has been like a dream come true. After learning about HSE from his older brother, who is studying international relations in the Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs, he decided to apply to the Faculty of Communications, Media and Design to do a Bachelor’s in Advertising and Public Relations. Since the programme is taught in Russian, he will first study at HSE’s Preparatory Year to master the language.

HSE St. Petersburg: Finding a Special Focus
HSE has campuses in four cities, and HSE St. Petersburg opened five years after the main campus, in 1997. It has over 4200 students, over 300 faculty members and 100 researchers who focus on different frontline issues in economics, business, humanities, law and social sciences. Returning Home to Study Business and Management at HSE
For Hoang Thanh Tung, who recently earned his bachelor’s degree at the Institute of International Languages - Vietnam National University, the decision to pursue a Master’s degree in the Faculty of Business and Management at HSE is in some ways a homecoming. Although coming most recently from Hanoi, Vietnam, he was born in Russia and spent much of his time growing up in the country, living with his parents in both Moscow and Ufa.
