SPIEF: City of St. Petersburg and HSE University Sign Cooperation Agreement
This document, signed by HSE Rector Yaroslav Kuzminov and Acting Governor of St. Petersburg Alexander Beglov at SPIEF-2019, foresees the pursuit of joint projects for the city’s socio-economic development, as well as training programmes for the city administration and the local business community.
Before signing the agreement, Alexander Beglov commended the valiant efforts of HSE St. Petersburg: ‘We have many ambitious plans for the development of St. Petersburg,’ said the Acting Governor. ‘This is an open and smart city, with huge scientific potential. And the Higher School of Economics fits right in.’
The agreement provides for the preparation and assessment of long-term plans and programmes aimed at the socio-economic development of St. Petersburg, the specification of it strategic priorities, various research and education projects, training personnel at HSE University to work for the state authorities and local enterprises, programmes to enhance financial literacy, and the development of international partnership programmes.
‘St. Petersburg was created to be a window to Europe and the world,’ said Yaroslav Kuzminov at the signing ceremony. In his opinion, it is important that HSE St. Petersburg be actively engaged in the globalization of its degree programmes in full agreement with a presidential decree on the global promotion of Russian education.
‘At the meeting, I spoke to Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev about our plans to develop a completely new, modern research, educational and student environment based on the sites offered to us by the city,’ added Yaroslav Kuzminov. ‘The Prime Minister has already instructed the Ministry of Finance to consider this opportunity.’
