The collaboration involves the training of specialists in sustainable development management and environmental economics, conducting joint research, and holding seminars, conferences, and roundtables. Students of the programme will be able to participate in projects and take internships at Rosbank.
Rosbank has extensive experience and competencies in developing environmentally sustainable and socially responsible financing in Russia. The company will serve as the programme’s partner in training specialists in the field of sustainable development.
Ekaterina Makarova
‘The development of sustainable finance markets is one of the key areas of the green transformation of the global economy. In recent years, the green finance industry has also been actively developing in Russia,’ explains Ekaterina Makarova, Academic Co-Supervisor of the Master’s in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development. ‘Rosbank is one of the leaders of this process. Its participation in implementing this programme is a fantastic opportunity for students to learn the best practices and immerse themselves in the subtleties of product creation in the green finance market.’
Alexey Ievlev
‘It is impossible to imagine a business today—especially a major one—that does not implement sustainable development in its architecture in some way,’ says Alexey Ievlev, Corporate Director of Rosbank. ‘And despite the difficult environment at present, this agenda remains a focus of Russian companies and the government. We are happy to contribute to the Master’s programme, which is oriented around the practical applications of ESG principles and combines a strong theoretical foundation with extensive practical expertise in green finance.’ He added that ESG is a major strategic condition of development for Rosbank, and that the company appreciates the opportunity to share its knowledge in this field and promote the ESG agenda alongside one of Russia’s leading universities.
The Master’s in Environmental Economics and Sustainable Development of the HSE University Faculty of World Economy and International Affairs is one of the first platforms in Russia for training specialists in the economic aspects of interactions between business and the environment. The new programme is taught fully in English, and its curriculum is designed to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of environmental issues and development opportunities for the global economy. Graduates will have the necessary skills to analyse and manage the environmental aspects and principles of sustainable development, including responsible finance.
