Dancing, Quizzes, and a Space Dog: HSE University Celebrates Student Night 2023
This year, HSE University started celebrating Student Day on the evening of January 24, when the traditional Digital Night festival kicked off at Pokrovka. For the first time since 2019, it was held in the pre-pandemic format: the quizzes, board games, lectures, dancing and master classes didn't stop until 6 am.

Philipp Gabunia, Deputy Governor of the Bank of Russia, has recently met with students of HSE University. His lecture opened a series of meetings with leading practicing economists on the development of Russia's economy in the current environment.
Wushu, Tekken and Fortune-telling by the Book of Changes: Lunar New Year Celebrated at HSE University
This New Year, according to the Asian calendar, arrived on January 22nd. On this day, HSE Cultural Centre brought together Chinese, Korean, and Japanese cultures. To the sounds of Asian songs and Korean drums, the guests tried their hand at calligraphy, studied jianzhi and origami, played Ttakji and Go, ate traditional cookies and expelled evil spirits. The Lunar New Year at the university was organized by the School of Asian Studies and the HSE Chinese Club.
‘I Spend 10–13 Hours at HSE University Every Day, and Half of That Is in the Library’
At the end of 2022, the HSE Library announced the launch of its new ‘Total Immersion’ project. Now, HSE University staff and students can take a tour of all of the library’s internal departments in the Pokrovka building. How HSE University-St Petersburg Spent 2022
In 2022, HSE University-St Petersburg signed partnership agreements with VK, Ozon, Tinkoff, Alexandrinsky Theatre and 1C. The campus hosted several significant scientific conferences, supported research projects carried out by students, opened new bachelor’s and master’s programmes, as well as participated in major city events.

Students of HSE University-St Petersburg have well-developed cross-cultural communication skills thanks to international educational programmes, participation in international academic mobility and double-degree programmes, and daily interaction with students from all over the world. HSE Art and Design School Announces Competition Results, Explores the Art of Photography, and Opens New Exhibition
The HSE Art and Design School held three important events in the run-up to the New Year’s holidays: announcing the winners of the second season of the international HSE Creative Open competition, hosting the final lecture of the October–December open lecture season, and launching the Diploma22 graduation project exhibition at the HSE Art Gallery.

From December 16–18, the HSE Academic Writing Centre held a ‘Writers’ Retreat’ aimed at giving HSE University researchers an opportunity to look at their texts from a different perspective. HSE University Holds New Year [EXTRA] Celebration
On December 19, the atrium of the HSE University Pokrovka building was transformed into a large-scale festive fair with a lectern, master classes, a photo zone, photo booth and other activities. The HSE University Cultural Centre also hosted a lively party with a disco and paper show. The organisers and participants of the New Year [EXTRA] event spoke to the HSE News Service about their impressions of this cheerful celebration.
