The HSE Saint Petersburg Opened Its Doors to International Students
HSE International Week in Saint Petersburg was a great success. This first-time event took place on February 10-14, 2014. The international students, who came to Saint Petersburg for the event, met with the University’s best lecturers and researchers and visited the city’s attractions.
On day one of International Week, the students visited the HSE Saint Petersburg campus and all the faculties. Since many of the participants are specializing in economics and management, they were particularly interested in the presentations made by the Faculty of Management, the Faculty of Economics, and the International Center for Market Studies and Spatial Economics. The presentations made by the Department of Applied Politics and the Faculty of History were also met with success.
The participants were interested in knowing whether they could choose the courses that most interested them, if they were to come again as exchange students. The guests also inquired about the HSE’s financing, facilities, and student internships with international companies.
Later that day, the HSE hosted a lecture by Canadian Professor Raymond Taras and a course in Russian as a foreign language for the international visitors. Afterwards, the group shared their impressions and opinions about the event over dinner.
Another day of International Week began with a four-hour city sightseeing tour for the guests, after which Professor Eduard Ponarin gave a presentation on the International Laboratory for Comparative Social Research and the Master’s Programme in Comparative Social Research, which is taught in English.
