Personality metatraits: the experience of research on the Russian sample
On March 1 Tatarko A.N. (PhD, professor) took part in the "Culture matters" research seminar with the report on "Personality metatraits: the experience of research on the Russian sample".
In the report, the results of approbation on the Russian sample of the questionnaire "Circular structure of personal metatraits" (Strus et al., 2014; Strus, Cieciuch, 2017) were reported. A new concept of personal metatraits was presented, which is a development of the Big Five concept. Metatraits - represent a qualitatively new way of describing, understanding the personality, as well as explaining its phenomenology. Metatraits are more general and complex personality traits, in which traditionally known features are combined. Scientists working in the mainstream of the Big Five concept use the terms "metatraits" and "higher order factors" as interchangeable. Thus, metatraits form a different, higher level of personality organization. The authors of the theory distinguish 8 personal metatraits (Strus et al., 2014). The report presented the initial results of approbation on the Russian sample (N = 1191) of the questionnaire The Circumplex of Personality Metatraits Questionnaire (CPM-Q). Also, the results of assessing the relation between the metatraits and various attitudes and perceptions of the individual (entrepreneurial attitudes, attitudes toward corruption, acculturation attitudes) were considered.
