During London Graduation Ceremony, which took place on March 11th at the University of London, ICEF Director Sergey Yakovlev was awarded honorary degree of Doctor of Science (Economics), honoris causa, for the contribution to development of higher economic education and ICEF academic achievements.
The Study of Narrative — A Lecture by Professor Stefania Sini
Professor Stefania Sini of the Amedeo Avogadro University of Eastern Piedmont, Italy gave a lecture at HSE on the basic principles of the study of narrative. Sini is a philologist who studies the problems of contemporary liberal arts theory and the history of the humanities. She also studies modern Russian culture and in particular, the philosophical ideas of Mikhail Bakhtin.
Oxford Professor Visits HSE in Saint Petersburg
At the invitation of the Laboratory of Sociology in Education and Science, renowned sociologist and statistician Tom Snijders is visiting HSE St. Petersburg on March 9-12. Dr. Snijders is a Professor at Oxford University (Great Britain), an emeritus fellow of Nuffield College, and a Professor at the University of Groningen (Netherlands).
The Russian Banking System has High Adaptability
How has the crisis influenced the banking sector? Why is the Central Bank increasing its requirements from bankers? How many banks does the economy need altogether? These were the topics discussed by Mikhail Kovrigin, director of the Central Bank of Russia’s Banking Regulation and Oversight Department, at a meeting with members of the HSE Banking Institute.
HSE Design Students’ Animation Videos at TEDxMoscow
On the 15th February the 2015 TEDxMoscow conference took place for which second year students at HSE’s School of Design, and their teacher, Animation Curator, Alexei Ryumin had made videos on the key issues under discussion.
Meeting in Brussels
Director of the Institute for Industrial and Market Studies Professor Andrei Yakovlev participated in the meeting of the EACES Executive Committee that took place in Brussels on February 6, 2015.
Winter Lessons at HSE
On 31st January to 2nd February 2015 HSE held its annual International Winter School. The Department of Public Policy and Master Programme in Political Analysis and Public Policy headed by professor Nina Belyaeva took part in the event. The Winter School welcomed participants from Germany, France, China, Japan and other countries.
University’s Social Mission
HSE has hosted the first patient conference ‘Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS): sharing experience to help people with ALS. The event was organized by a group of relatives of people with ALS, in conjunction with the Federal State Public Scientific Institution ‘Neurological Science Centre’, and the ALS Support Service at the Miloserdie medical centre. The HSE’s International College of Economics and Finance and the Laboratory for Experimental and Behavioral Economics acted as co-organizers. Volunteers, psychologists, and doctors in various specialties who are involved in treating people with ALS also took part.
A Meeting with the Norwegian Business Community
On the 28th January a delegation from the Norwegian business community visited HSE Nizhny Novgorod. The meeting was organised by the Nizhny Novgorod regional resource centre to discuss internships for students on the Presidential programme for training managers.
