The HSE Faculty of Economic Sciences has hosted a webinar for prospective international students interested in the master's programme in Economics and Economic Policy. The session aimed to provide insights into the programme's structure, courses, and the experiences of current students. Learn more about admissions and apply for a full scholarship before March 1.

Every year, HSE University welcomes more than a thousand students from all over the world. In 2024, Junseo Lee, a student from South Korea, came to HSE University-St Petersburg as a master’s student of the programme ‘Comparative Politics of Eurasia’. In the article, Junseo shares the story of why he chose St Petersburg and HSE University in particular and his personal experience of living and studying in Russia as a foreign student.

Pavel Voloshchuk has been developing and researching educational products for 14 years. Since August 2024, he has led two master's programmes at the HSE Faculty of Computer Science: ‘Research and Entrepreneurship in Artificial Intelligence’ and ‘Master of Data Science.’ In this interview, he talks about his career path, time management, and the specifics of academic supervision. 

Yan Minghao, from China, is in his second year of master’s study at ICEF HSE and has a passion for mathematics and Russian culture. In this interview, he shares the experience of being an ICEF student, contributing to international research venues, and travelling around Russia.

In January 2025, HSE University entered into a cooperation agreement with the Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE) to implement a double master’s that joins ICEF’s Financial Economics programme with SWUFE’s Master's in Finance. Combining the best of China and Russia’s academic frameworks, this new degree offers a unique study-abroad experience. In this collaboration, HSE ICEF is partnering with the Research Institute of Economics and Management (RIEM), which was established at SWUFE in 2006 to facilitate top-level, international research and training in economics and finance.

On March 2, an HSE Open Day for prospective undergraduates and specialist students will take place — one of the largest and most significant events for applicants, their parents, and the entire university. Visitors will have the opportunity to speak with students and representatives of educational programmes, plan their admission process, and immerse themselves in the HSE University atmosphere for a day. The event will be held in Russian.

With less than three weeks left to apply for full scholarships for master's programmes, the HSE University School of Finance held an online meeting to offer key details for prospective students of the Strategic Corporate Finance programme for the 2025/26 academic year. The meeting covered topics ranging from courses and admission requirements to the international student experience at HSE University.

Tianxiong Yu, 25, completed his Master’s in Economics and Economic Policy at HSE University in Moscow. He spent the second year of the programme at the University of Luxembourg and has since enrolled there on a doctoral programme. While it is no longer a joint programme, HSE graduates continue to successfully pursue PhDs at international universities. Tianxiong spoke to the HSE News Service about his memories of his master’s course and how his time at HSE paved the way for his doctoral research.
