HSE Maintains Its Position in Two THE Subject Rankings
HSE University has once again placed in two subject rankings of the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings: Computer Science (in the top 400) and Engineering and Technology (in the 601-800 range).
HSE entered the two subject rankings for the first time last year, thereby confirming that it has long ceased to be a university whose strengths lie only in the social sciences and humanities. Over the past decade, HSE University has increasingly proven to be a multidisciplinary university with competitive programmes in the natural sciences and engineering.
The THE subject ranking in computer science includes 17 Russian universities, 12 of which are members of Russian Academic Excellence Project 5-100. 34 Russian universities, including 18 Project 5-100 participants, placed in the subject ranking in engineering and technology.
The THE subject rankings are based on the same 13 indicators as the general THE institutional ranking, and they are also grouped into five categories. The weight assigned to each category, however, varies depending on the subject.
