On December 7^th 2012, the 9^th annual award ceremony for student participation in university life, the ‘Iron Eggs’, took place at the HSE Cultural Centre.

Patricia Albjerg Graham, a leading historian of American education, visited Moscow and St. Petersburg this week. HSE hosted a seminar on the problems of modern education where Patricia Graham provided a wide review on the current situation of American education.

On November 21^st, meetings of three working commissions of the Leading Russian HEIs in Economics and Management Association took place at the HSE – on the quality and audit of educational programmes, on staff problems and on experience exchange. Sergey Roshchin, Vice Rector of the HSE, told us more about the Association’s working groups.

Maria Glazyrina, 2nd year student at the Faculty of Law, told us about 'Pa-zefir', club of historical ballroom dance, at the HSE.

The Head of the Department for Local Administration at the HSE Faculty of Public Administration, Simon Kordonsky, Candidate of Philosophy, is one of the most original researchers studying Russian society. Students and graduates of “Vyshka” have voted him onto the list of Outstanding Teacher at the HSE for the second year in a row.

Professor of the Department of Higher Mathematics at the HSE Faculty of Economics, Alexander Belenky was acknowledged in 2012 to be one of the best teachers at the university.

The Social Science Research Network (SSRN) publishes a monthly ranking of socio-economic research centers and universities. As of November 1^st, 2012, the Higher School of Economics is in 2^nd place in terms of number of papers published over the last 12 months. A year ago the HSE was 85^th according to this indicator.

Meeting in the Kremlin on 27^th November, they talked about the achievements of the University and its future.
