From July 18 to October 15, 2023, the HSE University Faculty of Computer Science and AI Centre invite those interested to take part in the online Binary Super Resolution Challenge (BSRC-2023). The top 50 teams will receive prizes, and the top three will receive cash prizes.

The development of binary models for ultra-high-resolution tasks can improve the quality of image processing. The solutions proposed will make it possible to compress and optimise computer vision models for use in mobile devices. The smaller the model, the faster and more productive the system is overall.

Mikhail Gustokashin

Chair of the Expert Committee

‘The task of increasing resolution on the fly is of great practical significance, and the models proposed by the participants could be implemented in every smartphone in the world in the near future. The participants can assemble teams of specialists in machine learning and algorithmic programming; this well help to create high-quality, fast solutions. Support from team mentors, such as teachers of courses on machine learning and neural networks, is particularly important in this competition. The mentors of the top teams will receive their own rewards.’

Alexey Naumov

Member of the Expert Committee

‘Scientific challenges are an integral part of conferences on machine learning, such as ICML and NeurIPS. Unlike hackathons, participants of scientific challenges must not only “beat” the best existing solutions, but also propose an original scientific approach. We also decided to launch several challenges as part of the Fall into ML conference. The first of these is the Binary Super Resolution Challenge. We invite students, doctoral students and their academic advisors to take part! The winners will have the opportunity to present their solutions at Fall into ML.’

Anna Kozyreva

Chair of the Organising Committee

‘Experts supported the idea to organise a challenge in the vein of Kaggle, in which participants experiment with various methods and compete to make the best models. This is one of the most popular competition formats among specialists of various levels in the AI sphere.’

If you are keen on machine learning and neural networks, do not miss this opportunity to demonstrate your skills and win prizes!

Those interested can learn more and submit their applications on the official website.

If you have any questions about participating, please see the BSRC 2023 Telegram channel or email bsrc@hse.ru.
