Joint Postgraduate Programme from the HSE and the University of Bologna
The HSE Department of Public Policy and the European Law Institute of the University of Bologna have launched a double postgraduate programme. The deadline for applications for this programme is May 31, 2013.
Young Russian researchers will now have the opportunity to get a PhD degree on the basis of a thesis written as part of the HSE postgraduate programme. A key criterion in the selection process is that the topic of the study should be in line with the research interests of the departments of both partner universities. On the HSE’s side, the programme is being implemented by the all-university Department of Public Policy, and for the University of Bologna, the European Law Institute.
The agreement on a joint postgraduate programme between the HSE and the University of Bologna in EU Law and Comparative Regulatory Regimes and Policies, regarding both Fundamental Rights and Economic Development, was signed at the beginning of 2013. This project was initiated by the HSE’s Department of Public Policy and is aimed at postgraduate students in political science.
According to Nina Belyaeva, Head of the HSE Department of Public Policy, the programme has been implemented by the European Law Institute, but is not focused only on national legal systems. The Institute’s research also involves looking at processes of agreement and areas of mutual interest, all of which is in line with the subject area of the HSE’s Department of Public Policy.
Applications for the programme should be made within a year of enrolment in the HSE postgraduate programme. A detailed plan of the proposed thesis should be submitted to the HSE Office of Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies, in order to confirm the applicant’s intentions and give the department the opportunity to evaluate whether the topic and concept of this research is in line with the research interests of the HSE Department of Public Policy and the European Law Institute of the University of Bologna.
The length of study for this programme is 3+1 years. The Russian Candidate of Science degree is defended prior to the PhD viva voce process at the University of Bologna.
Nina Belyaeva, Yury Fogelson, or Irina Semenenko can answer any questions related to applications for the programme. Anna Potsar can also advise on the necessary paperwork.
